Today was the culmination of months of training. Coach, friend, and running mate decided to have us all forego our assigned wave starts and line up with the competitive wave for the race as an extra push. One of my favorite moments of the race was hearing spectators notice that my running bib didn't match the competitors I was running with and shout "What the *#$! is he doing here!" We didn't care about official times. We wanted to push ourselves beyond the expectations that we - and others - placed on ourselves. When all was said and done I finished in the top 100 out of the 1,021 racers. You'll notice my official stats have missing data because the timing chip didn't start recording my time until my assigned time had begun. Although this likely skews the data a bit, I'm motivated to sign up for the competitive wave next year - and train to be better than this year. Let the evolution continue.
After I collected my hardware I got a chance to spend some quality time with my greatest trophies - our boys. Today's featured bow tie is another beauty from Laura P. over at Xoelle. Check out her collection here.
