Day 132

Of all the cool things I've ever earned as part of the founding staff here at Achievement First Bushwick Middle this has got to rank as my all-time favorite gift. It came as part of Teacher Appreciation week and is totally in sync with my sense of style. I thought it appropriate, then, to don a tie gifted by a colleague of mine who used to teach math alongside me. Thank you, Mr. Garza!

Day 106

And so the stomach virus that plagued us a few weeks back has returned. It's an interesting way to end the vacation but so goes the life of a parent. Unfortunately, our church attendance took a hit as we opted not to keep spreading the germs. And so, today's bow was worn as I went out to get some Gatorade for our little ones. It was acquired a few years ago from a Brooks Brothers outlet store and I love wearing it during the warmer months as it features multiple shades of blue on seersucker.

Day 6

Today's bow tie was actually a gift from a former colleague of mine, Thomas Garza. I'm pretty sure he'll be famous one day for his work in education reform. You can watch a profile of his work here. I've always loved the combination of blue and gold and enjoy the fact that these just so happen to be my school's colors.
