About

Hi! My name is Jeffrey Armando Vasquez. I have the privilege of being a 13-year veteran math teacher at Achievement First Bushwick Middle School. January 2012 marked my 1,000th consecutive school day of teaching without taking a single day off and I’ve marked the occasion by starting a new adventure - one that combines my personal taste of fashion with another passion of mine that is far greater: closing the achievement gap. Clearly I can’t close it on my own, so I’ve committed to wearing a bow tie for 1,000 days straight in an effort to raise awareness of the achievement gap in our school systems and raise money for the Achievement First schools in Brooklyn and Connecticut. Please consider joining forces with me by supporting the cause. Click on the Get Involved tab toward the top of this page to find ways you can help. Thank you for visiting the site!

  1. Hey! I really love your cause, and as a bow-tie wearer myself, it's sweet to see others wearing them. I'm 18 years old, and it's my 602nd day of wearing them (as of writing this, December 9th, 2012), and lemme tell you, it only gets easier as it goes on, wearing one every single day. Keep trucking, keep tying, and stay classy!
