Year 2, Week 11 (Days 437 - 443)

With a new week came a new adventure to tackle. This week I took on my first Goruck organized event: the Goruck Light. As our Cadre said throughout the challenge, light doesn't mean easy. I'd love to tell you all about it, but will instead refer you to a summary posted by one of my rucking comrades who wrote a sweet piece for Travelete

Day 198

So today I chose to get up extra early (close to 4am) and go on what my trainer likes to call a "zombie run." It's a bit of an obstacle course (with a weighted vest) that he designs using a bit of improvisation and a local park. In less than 50 minutes of this run (I think it was a little over a mile) I felt more tired than I did running the Spartan Sprint in PA just a couple of days ago. Craziness. Get out of your comfort zone, test your grit and evolve. It's not easy, but I'm enjoying the results. Speaking of results, I can't wait for the results of the state exams. Stay tuned!

Today's bow tie was gifted by the cool cats over at OoOtie. Check out their awesome collection of bows here.

Day 162

I like anchors. My father always wore this anchor on a chain around his neck for as long as I can remember. Maybe that's why I like them so much.

Today's bow features sailboats and anchors and was a gift from the good folks at OoOtie.com.

Day 101

Ah, what a great Barca game, no? I love being able to watch 'em play throughout the time off. I got to watch the game in its entirety with the boys while I put together a few more bow ties just for fun. I look forward to rocking the one-of-a-kind stuff within the next few weeks. I don't know that I'd ever end up actually selling these lovelies, although many of my buddies are suggesting I open up my own etsy shop. Right now I'm very happy making these for my friends and for my own unique wardrobe.

Today's bow tie came by way of OoOTie (pronounced Oh-Tie, rhymes with Bow Tie). It's a pretty classy stripe that I thought would work well with this Penguin diddy. I absolutely love Penguin shirts. The staycation continues tomorrow - perhaps a little bowling for the boys? Let's see ...

Day 17

Week Number 2 our study in capacity finds us celebrating 89% mastery of the concepts taught last week dealing with customary units and moving forward with converting between metric units. Unfortunately, not all of the results on Friday's quiz were the sort of stuff to write home about. Apparently we still have much to review pertaining to multiplying and dividing of mixed numbers. Oh, fractions!

Today's bow tie came by way of the good folks at OoOtie.com (rhymes with bow tie). I absolutely love the silver anchors and sailboats on this dark royal blue number. Check out their collection of cool ties!
