Year 2, Week 11 (Days 437 - 443)

With a new week came a new adventure to tackle. This week I took on my first Goruck organized event: the Goruck Light. As our Cadre said throughout the challenge, light doesn't mean easy. I'd love to tell you all about it, but will instead refer you to a summary posted by one of my rucking comrades who wrote a sweet piece for Travelete

Day 246

Wow. I just realized I've been off in counting my days. I guess it was about 20 some days ago - maybe less - that I replaced a 2 with a 1 in my hundreds place. It felt odd that I was still in the hundreds when I thought I had remembered being past 200 a few weeks back. Well, nothing like a little mistake to humble you into realizing you'll probably be making many many others.

Our Labor Day was pretty productive in terms of family time. I got to spend my morning at the gym with my father-in-law and my brother-in-law and got to spend a bit of the afternoon with my mom. Good times.

Today's bow came via a gift from Katy Moss bow ties.

Day 207

Today we decided to try and see one of our favorite bands perform live during a taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, but because we never secured tickets beforehand (apparently you have to call in to reserve tickets 4-5 weeks in advance) we had to first obtain standby tickets, which we did. Unfortunately not only were we the 85th and 86th people to acquire standby tickets, the show was so packed that no standby ticket holders were even needed. No worries for us, though. We still got a chance to enjoy the better part of the morning hanging out at the NBC experience store and checking out the huge Toys R Us in the middle of Times Square. Not a bad day at all.

Today's bow came via Katy Moss. Please check out her awesome collection here.

Day 176

I love getting caught in the rain. It's just another obstacle for my stride to overcome. That's the trick about getting caught without an umbrella. Never lose that stride. People were running all over the place and still getting soaked. Just embrace the suck and keep a pace you're comfortable with. Water will dry and you'll be refreshed knowing that a little (or a lot, in my case) water didn't keep you down.

Today's bow came via Katy Moss and is certainly a favorite of mine, as I happen to own a pair of Madras pants in a strikingly similar pattern. Yup, those were soaked too.

Day 24

Is there anyone in NYC else excited that it's about to get up to 50 degrees today? I was so pumped for the warmer weather (not that I actually experience much of it since I'm only outdoors during my early morning/late afternoon commute) that I decided to rock some Madras pants and matching bow tie. Yes, kids, track the bold fashion statement. Perhaps a stroke of happenstance brought the tie to me, but I assure you it wasn't something that was made to order. This lovely navy and pink plaid number came by way of Katy Moss. Check out her etsy shop here. Have a great Tuesday!
