I'll start with today's bow tie of the day and quickly move on to what the bulk of my day entailed. Today's bow came via Laura from Xoelle who continues to surprise me with her generous spirit and inspiration.
Speaking of inspiration - today was the day I completed my first Spartan Race. I took on what has been called by some to be the most rigorous of the Spartan Sprint series - the Sprint in the Blue Mountain Ski resort in Palmerton, PA. I won't lie. It was pretty rigorous. Although the course itself was only five miles, the course designers embedded 25 obstacles over stretches of steep hills that were filled with jagged rocks (both big and small), wooded terrain and muddy pits. I had the amazing pleasure of running alongside 9 other people, most of whom I had not met before today, but decided that we would stick as close to one another as possible from beginning to end, helping each other along the way and waiting for one another when we finished obstacles first. I've run races alone before and nothing compares to the feeling of accomplishing something as part of a team. The most amazing part of my race today was crossing the finish line as one team. Although it was just ten of us - it was so inspiring that I was left with an enormous desire to sign up for another race. Urbanathalon, perhaps?
I've got quite a few new memories that I can't wait to share with my students next month so stay tuned for that. Have a great rest of your weekend!
